Frequently Asked Questions

What can be painted or stencilled on a pallet?

Most customers ask for a business name, a logo, a colour on the bearers or blocks, or handling marks such as a return address or “property of” notice. Tell us what you want to show, where it should sit and whether it needs to be read from a forklift, a racking aisle or up close. That shapes the size, placement and colour we discuss.

Why would a business paint or colour code its pallets?

Usually to stop them disappearing. A painted or stencilled pallet is easy to pick out in a mixed stack, so customers and carriers are more likely to return it, and your own team can sort by site, product line or customer at a glance. Brand visibility on outgoing freight is a useful side benefit rather than the main reason.

What artwork do you need for a logo stencil?

A clean, high contrast version of the logo works best, ideally as a vector file or a high resolution PDF. Fine detail, thin lines and small text tend to fill in on rough timber, so a simplified one colour version usually reads better than the full logo. Send what you have and the size you are after, and we can talk through whether it will stencil cleanly.

Will painting affect export pallets and ISPM 15 marking?

It must not cover or obscure the ISPM 15 mark. Treated export pallets carry a stamp that inspectors need to read, so any paint or stencil has to be placed clear of it. If your pallets are going overseas, tell us at the enquiry stage and confirm the destination’s requirements with your forwarder before anything is painted.

Can recycled pallets be painted, or only new ones?

Both can, but the result differs. New timber takes paint evenly and gives a crisper stencil. Recycled pallets vary in colour, surface wear and previous markings, so coverage and sharpness will not be as consistent across a batch. If the finish needs to look uniform, for example for a display or a customer facing delivery, new timber is the safer choice.

Is there a minimum order for painted or stencilled pallets?

Ask us with the quantity you have in mind rather than assuming. Setting up a stencil takes the same effort whether the run is small or large, so the numbers that make sense depend on the job. Tell us the quantity, the pallet type and whether it is a one off or a repeat order, and we can discuss what is practical.

How long does the paint last in normal use?

It wears with handling. Forklift tines, dragging and stacking scuff the bearers and blocks first, and pallets stored outdoors will fade and weather over time. For identification that is usually fine, because a worn colour is still recognisable. If the marking has to stay sharp, mention how the pallets will be used and stored so we can discuss placement that sees less wear.
